Welcome to the Moretonhampstead Riding Club

Welcome to the Website for the Moretonhampstead Riding Club, this is a family riding club in Devon dedicated to the instruction, improvement and enjoyment of riding in the local area.
The Riding club is a Constituent member of the King George V Playing Fields Trust, and a foundation club from the early days of the Trusts creation.

We have a riding arena situated on land owned by this trust, which is available to be used by our members.
If you wish to use the arena you will need to book your slot, and ensure that you leave the arena the same way that you found it. Please note hard hats must be worn!

The Moretonhampstead Riding Club Show

Moretonhampstead Riding Club’s Annual Open Horse and Dog Show, held the second Sunday of May every year, and now in its 26th year, celebrated with record numbers of entries in the children’s classes this year.  The youngest competitor was just under three years old! The show is often used as a ‘practice run’ for Devon County, and this year was no exception with Mountain and Moorland, Arab and Riding Pony classes all attracting entries on their way to the County Show.

As ever, the Riding Club Show is all about celebrating the successes of local amateur riders in particular, especially children  and novices of all ages.  Our thanks to the Seaward family for the use of their land and to the Marchant family, who rent it from them for grazing – after our Show!  Huge thank you also to all judges, stewards and helpers, without whom we simply could not go ahead.

Sincere thanks go to Ingrid MacKellar for organising the dog show and Sue Berwick for judging.  An enormous variety of dogs took part, well done to everyone!
